Good Morning All!!
Matthew 24:6; “And you will hear of wars and rumors
of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is
not yet.”
Well,
we certainly are hearing about them.
There are wars and there are rumors everywhere. It is always amazing how someone sitting in a
café or a local gathering place knows the thinkings and plans of the President
of the United States or the generals or the leaders from around the world but
at least one of them always does. They
usually have a nephew or a cousin who knows someone who works in the army or
something. Add to this the fact that a
lot of this is happening in the Middle East and visions of the Revelation to
St. John begin to percolate to the surface.
Don’t buy into it. Don’t let the
noise distract you. Jesus really is
pretty clear. The end times will always
be there. Jesus tells us to pay little
attention to the “musings” of so called experts. Look to what Jesus says. He told his disciples (that includes you and
me)
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows.” No one knows; all we know
is that there will be an end. There will
be a time when Jesus returns in glory.
We are not given a timeline nor can we figure one out. Jesus message to us is clear; everything is
in my hands. There is nothing that has
happened, is happening or will happen that has not already been taken care
of. Jesus tells us, “I have overcome the
world.” There is nothing that will
defeat us or separate us from God’s loving arms. So don’t be alarmed; don’t worry about what
is to be.
We are to,
at all times and all places; continue to serve God by being his agents of
healing, his servants in this world of pain and sorrow. We are called to witness to Jesus’ death and resurrection. We are called to witness to the reconciliation
and redemption that this gives us. The
world will continue to turn; the world will continue to crumble where sin
continues to corrupt it. Yet Jesus has
prevailed. This we know and this we can
hold onto.
So have peace. Know that all is in God’s hands and his plans
are for us to prosper and to live in eternal bliss with him. In many ways, the events of this age are why
we pray, “Come, Lord Jesus.” When Jesus
returns all the evil, all the pain, all the sorrow, sadness and death will
end. When Jesus returns, all will be
healed; all will be perfect. So we pray,
“Come, Lord Jesus.” We pray for the return
to come; to come quickly.
Until that
happens, we are to be about our task in God’s kingdom. We are to serve the Lord where he has placed
us and we can rest assured that God’s grace and peace rests upon; regardless of
what the world does, attempts to do or tries to lead us to think. The world and the devil have lost, Jesus has
won and we share in that victory. We
have nothing to fear; peace is ours.
Father of all mercies, in this uncertain world we have peace because of
Jesus. Keep us mindful of this mercy and
help us to comfort those who do not know your peace. Guide us by your Spirit that we may share the
peace that only you can give. In Jesus’
name we pray, amen.
God’s Peace,
Pastor Bret
