Good Morning All,
Romans 5:8; “But God demonstrates his own love for us
in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
It is always interesting when a civil court in the United States places
a value on a human life when a wrongful death occurs. O. J. Simpson ended up owing $33.5 million to
the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Many times, in average people awards, the amount
is well over $1 million dollars. Many
factors are considered. There are
compensatory damages which is the amount of earnings plus other factors to
compensate for the loss of income because of the death. There are punitive damages which are designed
to “punish” the person who caused the death.
Then they subtract any contributory negligence that the person who died
may hold. If you are driving too fast
when the other gut runs a red light, you are contributing to the accident. In other words, you aren’t totally
innocent. So a price is arrived at; so
what is the worth of a human life? Do
you apply variables and conditions to a life?
Many do as they speak of quality of life and useful productivity. What is a human life worth? To God, each human life is worth one dead
Savior.
God showed his love for us by sacrificing his Son in order that you and
I might have eternal life. Each life is
worth the value of Jesus’ life. This is
why all Christians should value life so deeply.
It is a gift to us that comes at a steep price. Even when we were enemies with God, Jesus
died so that you would have life. This
means that no human life is worthless.
Whether young or old, beautiful or not so, highly productive or not
productive at all; all life has value and we value it. It is a precious and a unique gift from God. This is why we value life.
It is also why you are never too far gone. The life that you have lived is never too far
gone for God to rescue you. Your life,
no matter how painful or meaningless it was is still worth a lot to God; your
life is always worth one dying Savior.
This is the price that God paid to redeem each and every human life, yours
included. No matter how difficult a life
you have lived, no matter how difficult it is right now, God values you and
values you deeply. He spared nothing in
order to give you eternal life. He will
spare nothing now to keep you in his loving arms. He spares nothing now to bring you into his
loving family. You have value to God,
great value.
So no matter what your life was or what your station is, God values you
and desires that you be part of his heavenly kingdom. His love for you will fail or leave. He has spent too much to walk away from
you. He continually calls to you to
return to his family. His love will
never fail. Trust his love and his
promise to save you from whatever your life is now to something greater than
you can even imagine. You are worth it.
Gracious
Father, your gift of life to me comes at a great price. Keep me in your loving arms. Never let me fall away. Keep me in your gracious care that the devil
may have no hold over me. In the precious
name of Jesus we pray, amen.
God’s Peace,
Pastor Bret
