Morning All!!
Proverbs 14:30; “A tranquil heart
makes for a healthy body, but jealousy is like bone cancer.”
The little green monster; you know which
one. The one we call envy,
jealousy. Most of us have been bitten by
the jealousy bug at one time or another.
The devil really has a way with this sin. It can begin so innocently. It can start with a compliment on someone’s
good fortune or business success or how well they are doing in school or on the
team. Then, almost with a quiet and
imperceptible movement, we become jealous and then envious.
Sometimes it happens so gradually, we don’t
even really notice it. We may even not
really see it but we tend to feel it.
Have you ever noticed that when you are around people of whom you feel
envious or jealous of, we begin to feel it in our body? Do you ever experience it when you feel your
back get stiff or your neck begins to ache?
Do you ever notice that you just feel tired and worn out? This is your body telling your spirit, “Let
it go.”
I know for many of us we question God’s
fairness. We think since we are such
good and upstanding Christians that we should get a little more; you know like
everyone else. One of the problems with
that is we are too often looking the wrong way when we cite fairness.
If you have food in your fridge, clothes on
your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep; you are richer than 75%
of the world’s population.
If you have some money in the bank, some in
your wallet, and a little spare change in your pocket; you are among the
wealthiest 8% of the people in the world.
If you have never experienced the danger of
battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture, or the horrible pangs of
starvation; you are more fortunate than over 500 million people who are alive
and suffering.
If you woke up this morning more healthy
than sick; you are in better shape than the more than a million who will die
this week from diseases we have cures for.
We have so much to be thankful for; yet we
let our sinful nature ruin our joy. God
has blessed beyond any possible imagination.
Yet we complain and we pay the price for it by missing the joy that God
gives to us. God places in our lives all
that we need. God gives us more than we
can ever truly use. When we see and
receive God’s blessings, we live with a healthy body another of God’s
gift. We feel the pain when we fail to trust
in God to provide for our every need.
God’s blessing is for us at all times because he loves us at all times.
Dearest
Lord, You provide us with all that we need and even more. Keep us aware and mindful that there are far
more who have less than there are who have more. Give us the heart to share with those in
need. In your precious name we pray,
amen
