Good Morning All!!
1 Thessalonians 5:11; “Therefore encourage one
another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
Help! I need somebody
Help! not just anybody
Help! you know I need someone
Help!
Help! not just anybody
Help! you know I need someone
Help!
If you are of the right age you know just
how the rest of the song goes. It was
one of the Beatles biggest hits and was the theme song for the second movie
that the Beatles released. “Help” was
released in 1965 and was written by John Lennon. It was widely perceived as a comical movie
designed to feature the 14 Beatle songs featured. Yet Lennon later wrote how this song actually
was a cry for help. The intensity of the
rise and popularity of the Beatles, combined with John Lennon’s shyness,
self-image struggles and moderate bouts with depression led him to write a song
that was truly a cry for help.
John Lennon is not the only person who needs help. Everyone needs help. This grows out of the fact that God created
us to be social creatures. We were not
designed to live alone or without companionship. We are designed to live in unity and harmony
with one another. It is sin that pulls
us apart and places walls between us.
Sin is about separating us from loving relationships both the perfect
love of God but also the imperfect love of our spouses, family, friends and
neighbors. We need love but that love is
not from anyone in general; we need the love of our fellow Christian brothers
and sisters to help us cope with the struggles of daily life.
We need fellow Christians to actually help to build us up. True brothers and sisters in Christ offer
prayers for and with us. True brothers
and sisters want what is best for you.
True brothers and sisters seek your salvation and that you continue as
God’s child. This is intrinsic in man’s
heart. God wants us to want to be with
each other and to care for one another and support one another. So if the opportunity arises for you to be a
friend and help your neighbor, be sure and fill the need. God uses our hands and our hearts to express
his love for his creation.
If you are in need of help, seek out your Christian brothers and
sisters. Too often we let pride, fear or
a lack of understanding how God works.
God cares for us daily but it is usually through the creation which he
has made. He uses everyday things to
sustain us. He will use the arms and
hearts of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
This is how God chooses to usually bring us healing and comfort. Go to your brothers and sisters for help; it
is God’s plan for us all.
Father, you help
your people through your redeemed children.
Your healing is at work in the hands and hearts of those upon whom you
give peace and hope. Lead me to help my neighbors
when they are hurting or in need. Guide
me to ask my brothers and sisters for your grace. In the precious name of Jesus we pray, amen.
God’s Peace,
Pastor Bret
